Action/Locked to Barry

It's a sad day when Cisco can't even remember the last time he saw his best friend. They're trapped in the same time-altered city, and yet they've hardly seen each other at all in the time they've been here.

Well no more!

He sends Barry a text with a location and a time, followed by a promise of intense bro bonding. (If the time he gives Barry is roughly twenty minutes before he intends to be there, that'll just be his little secret. He knows his bro.) It'll be good to get a chance to just talk, not worrying about aberrations or alternate universes or freaking dragons. Just Barry and Cisco. Like it should be.

Oh, a distraction. Perfect. He should have known that Barry wasn't gonna let him pine in peace.

"Hey, buddy," he calls, shifting up onto his knees and offering out a hand for him to sniff.

Not a chance.
But that's okay. He'll talk to Savitar. One of the few things they can agree on are the people they care about, and Cisco is absolutely one of them.

He watches Barney move closer, head bobbing as he takes in Cisco. "That's right buddy. Just give him a sniff."

Barney trills again, nosing at Cisco's hand.

He needs this distraction, really. Time away from the apartment he and Mick share. Time with his best friend. And spending time with Savitar has, admittedly, been nice. Their lives are crazy right now, but he almost feels like he's happier here.

Cisco beams, very gently petting the dinosaur's head. He's not quite sure if petting a dinosaur is different from petting any other kind of animal, but he'll be super careful just in case.

"Do you have any idea how big he's gonna get?" he asks.

"Scratch at his feathers, they're growing in and he's itchy," Barry suggests.

"I'm not sure. Bart's been helping me with him and we're thinking he's gonna get a lot bigger. Like person sized or better. Maybe Utahraptor."

"I got a first floor apartment near here so he can go outside when he wants."

Cisco obeys, fingers finding the base of Barney's feathers and scritching gently. The raptor keens, and Cisco can't help being proud of himself. He made a little dinosaur happy.

"This isn't gonna be like a Jurassic World type situation, right? Where the raptors Owen raised from birth try to eat him half the time?" He worries, Barr.

"I have no idea, but if I stick close to him while he's around people I can get anyone out of harm's way." Barry scratches along Barney's back. "And I want him to go back to the wild, he's not exactly pet material."

"Where exactly is 'the wild'? Or 'when', really?" He asks. "Without knowing what he is, it's hard to know what time gate he came through. Putting him back into the wrong period could cause serious damage to the timeline."

Barry rubs his neck. "I don't know. I mean I found a nest nearby and we know there's a pride of raptors. He had to come from them."

Barney trills. More attention, damnit.

"I just want him to grow up safe and not get eaten, you know?"

Sorry, Barney. His other hand comes up, and now he's using both to pet the needy raptor. What an affectionate brat. So, perfect for Barry.

"Dude, I get it," he promises. "One time, there was this baby bunny in my parents' backyard, and I'd decided to keep him and name him Raphael- shut up, I was into TMNT- and I went outside to give him a carrot, and a freaking hawk swooped down and took him. Scarred me for life." A nod, like he'd made his point. "We'll make sure Barney is top of the food chain when he goes back."

Barry can't help his smile as Barney leans into the attention and Cisco is distracted from his crush. A smile that becomes a sympathetic look at the mention of the bunny.

"Aw man. I bet it did."

"You hear that, dope?" A smile at Barney. "Me and Uncle Cisco will take care of you."

Barney's little chirps and trills are adorable, and Cisco finds himself jealous. Maybe he'll poke around and see if there's a dragon out there for him.

"So I've been thinking of starting a movie night at my place," he says. "Kind of a relaxed, 'come if you want' weekly thing. Snacks, drinks. Like a hangout night."

"That sounds like a great idea. I think we could all do with a little decompression time." A beat. "And that's okay with Mick? I mean.. if you're gonna do it at your place?"

[goodviberations]

"I haven't actually talked to him about it yet," he admits. "But Mick is a cool guy. He'll either join us or find something else to do. He's actually really into sci-fi."

Man, he never thought he'd see the day that he described Mick Rory as cool.

He's into sci-fi. Perfect.

Barry just smiles and doesn't comment more on his best friend's crush. Yet. "Man. I never thought we'd be saying things like 'movie nights with your ex-criminal roommate.'"

"We chose this kind of life when we created Team Flash," he says with an easy shrug. "As long as we stick together, we can handle anything."

And it's clear how truly he believes that. He and Barry are unstoppable together.

"Team Flash and Team Vibe," he counters with a grin that's just as easy and just as full of faith. Together, they can handle anything that comes at them - even if it's dinosaurs or time fragments or any other form of craziness.

... or, yanno, setting up said best friend.

Cisco bumps their shoulders together, smile warm.

"We've gotta do this more, man," he insists. "Maybe make it a regular thing so we can't flake out on each other."

[chosenbylightning]

"Never again," he promises. "Why don't we make it a weekly thing? Or I can try and grab one of the first floor apartments? Barney is still pretty young, but sooner or later he'll want to start staying outside."

[goodviberations]

"Dude, having you around would make my life so much easier," he says with a slightly overdramatic groan. "You can try to guilt more brownies out of Mick."

[chosenbylightning]

Jaw. Drop.

"Wait. Wait. So those brownies I found in your kitchen were Mick's? He made those?"

[goodviberations]

"Yes. Yes, Barry," he says. "You see the problem I have, right? They're addictive in the worst way, and he's refusing to make me any more."

[chosenbylightning]

"Oh my god dude," he sags against his shoulder. "Oh my god his brownies are made of magic. Okay, why is he refusing to make more and how to we need to fix this because I need them in my life. Constantly."

[goodviberations]

"Right?" He asks. Finally, someone understands. "I may have eaten half the batter before it got into the oven. And then more than half of the brownies that made it out. I have a problem, okay?"

[chosenbylightning]

"Those are like the best brownies I've ever had." A glance around. "Even better than Oliver's."

"We have to get him to make them for movie night."

[goodviberations]

"Imma tell him you said that," he warns with a grin. Oliver Queen is a great cook, but his baking doesn't hold a candle to Mick's.

"Dude, that's the best idea ever. If he thinks they're gonna be shared by a bunch of us, he'll make them."
