Video/Action - it starts with a spark

Egypt is hot. Blazing damn hot.
But it's not the heat that Mick currently hates. It's the goddamn sand.

Sand in his face, in his eyes, sand everywhere.
Friggin sand.

But it's the one place he can work on his new abilities with fire without worrying about unintentionally roasting his surroundings.

Fire flickers along his arms and hands. Sputters of flame followed by explosions of heat.

Clearly handling powers requires control which isn't something Mick Rory has ever really excelled at.

[A frustrated growl as he drops his hand. Between the sand and his inability to get the fire under control Mick isn't in the best of moods.] You seem to enjoy stating the obvious.

I do enjoy that. Close your eyes.

Mick grumbles again, but he follows his direction and shuts his eyes.] Now what?

Put a picture in your mind. Someone or something you hate.

That's a damn long list.

Imagine them burning. What it would look like, what it would feel like. Then breathe in and breathe out.

[Never mind that he'd crushed Druse beneath a heavy armored boot. Imagining him burn is pretty satisfying too.

The flames along his arms start to stabilize, flickering evenly.]

Just keep that in your mind as long as you can. And then open your eyes.

[Druse. Savage. So many he can imagine dying by the fire and it's satisfying as hell.

Finally Mick opens his eyes. Looks down at himself.]

Son of a bitch.

[vivifier]

That better? [ Genuinely, he is curious and wants to know. ]

[bringstheheat]

Yeah. Yeah it is. [He's still a little surprised that it worked, looking down at his arms and his hands where the flames dance and flicker evenly.] How did you know that'd work?

[vivifier]

I've made metahumans. Some of them needed help with control, at first.

[bringstheheat]

How can you go and make a metahuman? Is that what this is? Cause I don't remember any lab going up in a big explosion.

[vivifier]

I have...had a tool for it.

[ But that's back home, isn't it? ]

Huh. [Whatever because Mick suddenly decides that he doesn't care. What matters is keeping his abilities under control.] So this'll always work? Thinkin' about someone burning?

[vivifier]

It should, yeah.

[bringstheheat]

[Should isn't a guarantee, but it's a start and it's more than what Mick had an hour ago.] It goes off random, sometimes. I don't want to be lighting any fires that don't need lit.

But this is a start.

At least you don't seem able to burn yourself? You should probably see about finding something to fireproof your clothes.

The fire doesn't hurt me, but it does burn anything else combustible. [Including people.]

I'll look around when I'm done here.

Stay away from fueling stations, then.

Mick gives him a sour look.] I know how fire works.
