Kara raises her hand and knocks on Savitar's door.

Kara is not in this to puppy or not to puppy fight. Yet.
Her hands go up. "Woah. I just said plates."



"Maybe a whole set if you like them enough."
Or she can slip them into a cart without you seeing.


She'd like to make sure a person can live in this apartment,
before she needs to make sure a pet can. Or is visited enough.

Pointing at Bart. "No. Pet." If he gets a pet, it's going to be a turtle. Or a fish.

"Fine. Sure." He guesses. It's not like nothing he has isn't clean, despite Bart's insistence he must have raided a trash bin.

"You need to get a lot more than plates. What about some bookshelves? A television, maybe some video games. I can totally beat your ass on the Rainbow Road," Bart said, grinning.

He could show him the AV room in the Tower, but somehow that seemed a little odd.

"Have you ever had a dog? Dogs are awesome. And give you excuses to run and stuff."

Kara can try not to look a little interested in the mention of video games. It's probably not working. Her eyebrows definitely went up, along with her shoulders, and the pique of her attention actually going to Bart and looking to see what Savitar even had as any kind of reaction to that.

"That's still a yes, though, right?" Just to be certain. What with how excited he does not sound, which demands solid book details she is not passing on for the running jokes. She did not pass as an amazing assistant for so many years for absolutely no reason. "Like right now? Or in a few hours?"

Savitar raises an eyebrow at the mention of video games. "I don't need a tv." Liar, liar, liar. "Or a dog. But I an get a tv. If I have to."

And a glance back at Kara: "Fine is a yes, yes."

"See, this is why I like Grumpa," Bart told Savitar. "He needs a name I can call him. Not going with the one he chose because, ugh, not going with the murder-name.

"What do you think, Kara?"

Still, he heads to open the door and hold it open.

"What?" Kara's confused by the logic of that one.

Enough it sidelines the momentary victorious thrilled of success at that flicker of interest it seemed like Savitar suddenly had. Or. Well. Maybe not interest. But it was definitely more give than the other no, no, no answers that had been being thrown out. "What name?"

Yes. She skipped the word before it in repeating the question, but she didn't skip hearing it.
Mentions of murder do tend to forestall one from getting on the road to go shopping.

And now he's just staring at Bart. Or, well, no that's more glaring at Bart. Because seriously. Seriously. Are we bringing that up now, here and around Kara?

"It's not a murder name. It's my name."

"You never had to deal with the monster who used that name on my Earth," Bart said, scowling. "I'm not calling you after that insane cult leader. He killed Max."

It was never going to not be a sticking point. "I think I'm allowed a little bitterness."

And all of the sudden she has no clue what any of the things the younger boy is saying are. It's a complete one-eighty from all the raucous jokes and levity bouncing everywhere, into sudden compete seriousness. Defensive on one side and certain on both side.

"Who's a cult leader?" Is not a question she saw herself needing to ask suddenly. Especially not on top of what murderer. Or murder. Or. She doesn't even know. That's kind of the point now. "And, who is Max?"

"It's my name." It's rather a sticking point with Savitar as well, given he's spent how long trying to be not Barry Allen. "I don't go around telling you that 'Kid Flash' is Wally West."

"That I can't use without seeing the guy who used the closest thing I had to a father after Wally cut and left me with him for a meat-suit," Bart said. "Max was the only family I had, and Savitar killed him. Savitar siphoned the Speed Force into his followers, draining it away, and used all of it against us. And you choose to wear that name."

He didn't like the whole thing, and he'd said that. "It's too much."

Not that either of them is actually talking to to her anymore, but at least that whole last part helped fill in some gaps. If the first surprise that seems to hit her is that he exists in other worlds, too? Not just this one pocket of Barry's made and then changed time he was describing the first time?

"You're still here," Kara says, after those last words. A contradiction, but soft. Sympathetic and uncertain if she has any right to point that out to Bart, when she doesn't know the whole of what sounds like a terrible line of events with a person who isn't the person in the room, but has the same name. Something she's had recent enough experience with, too. If not exactly.

"Even with all of that, and what you said earlier, you're still here. So, maybe it isn't entirely?"

"I choose to wear that name because it's my name. I don't tell you not to call yourself Bart because it's too similar to Barry Allen. I don't know any of those people." He's not unsympathetic towards Bart, but it took years to carve out his new identity.

And here they go with Bart and Ray and Felicity and who even knows who else trying to ping away at it.

"Because it is Bartholomew Henry Allen, Pops. Another legacy. I'm not saying you don't get to be...that. But don't expect me to be using that name if there's an alternative," Bart said, just that simply. "And Wally left that mantle behind for anyone to pick up. Maybe sometime I'll tell you the shit he said about me wearing it."

He stops, taking a deep breath, trying to center himself before more things react than just his pulse. He can't afford to get mad. "I thought we were going shopping. I could use some stuff for my place, too. Not sure how many of the other rooms to furnish, really."

It might be becoming a little frustrating to be completely ignored, except that this really does seem like their thing. Even if she's getting the fact, easily, at this point, that it's not fair to either of them and both of them are being unfair to each other at the same time about it. Which, maybe, is obvious because she's not being involved in it and hasn't known any of it until right at this moment?

"Have either of you thought about, maybe--" She looks between them, as she finally heads toward the door and Bart there, to head out into the city. Because that whole plan hasn't changed in the slightest for her. "--trying to come to a compromise on this whole name calling thing?"

He moves to follow Kara because apparently this 'shopping' thing is something that's happening, no matter what. Resistance is futile. "I already told Felicity and Ray that people can call me Sam. But I guess that's not good enough either."

"Grumpa Sam, sure," Bart agrees, going back to the previous topic as if nothing had gotten all emotional. He glances at Kara. "Tell me he's not totally a 'Grumpa?'"

He starts out, because, really, shopping can be fun. He remembered more than a few shopping trips with the Titans, the ones that didn't get interrupted by bad guys.

"And you want me to stop calling me that, pick something that reflects at least one major visible wavelength of light instead of absorbing it all."

Kara's not sure she has an opinion on that, which might show while she's following Bart out down the hallway and away from the barren apparent. He is more caustic than she quite knows what to do, and maybe that lends to grumpy-ish as a term, but she's, also, not there to joke about it or saddle someone she doesn't know with something as though she does. Especially not when it's incredibly clear he doesn't like it.

Instead, what she actually does is ask him. "Do you want me to call you that?"

Neither name has more or less value or placement in her world yet, and it is his name.

If they think he's grumpy now, just wait. Just. Wait.

He doesn't say anything to Bart, but he does look to Kara. "Just don't call me Barry." Apparently, he'll give her more leeway than he'll give Bart or Barry or Joe West.

But she is Kara Danvers, after all. Not even he wants to upset her.

"We could go with Shirley. Or Late-for-Dinner," Bart suggests, teasing still.

He's going to take a little bit to adjust to, isn't he?
There's a sideways look toward Savitar-or-Sam at that.
Or. Well. Maybe they both are. This whole thing all around is.



She settles instead for something otherwise still important but not respect avoiding, from the one side near her in the hallways, or deeply unspecific, on the other side of her. "I think we should start at the Bath & Beyond over by the Windsor Castle."

And he'll do a double take on that. "Sure. I mean, why wouldn't there be a home store by Windsor Castle?"

This world is definitely going to need adjustment.

"Have you seen my place? It's supposed to be in San Francisco Bay," Bart points out. "And I'm the only one there."

He shrugs a little. "I saw hot dog vendors on the Great Wall the other day."

"Oooh, hot dogs." Could she sound more interested?
Maybe not. "We should get something to eat, too."


It's been at least half an hour. It's totally time.
